The Scheduling Challenge
An unplanned emergency outage at a Gulf Coast LNG export facility required all three liquefaction trains to be taken down and worked one after another over roughly 90 days. Unlike a planned turnaround, there was no long pre-planning cycle: scope was still developing as the work began. Josh served as Lead Scheduler for the outage.
The Approach
- Built a working outage schedule quickly and refined it as scope was defined
- Sequenced the three trains so crews, equipment and lessons carried forward
- Tracked the critical path for each train and for overall return to service
- Kept status, forecasts and reporting current for project leadership
The Management Value
In an emergency outage, every day offline is lost production and revenue. The schedule gave leadership a clear view of what was driving each train's return to service and where attention was needed next.
