This checklist is a practical first review—not a substitute for tracing the actual construction logic and milestone paths in the schedule.

Logic

Check missing predecessors and successors, excessive lags, redundant ties, relationship types and whether the sequence matches field execution.

Constraints and Calendars

Confirm that constraints have a documented purpose, calendars reflect actual work rules and imposed dates are not masking the CPM calculation.

Durations and Float

Review unusually long activities, high float, negative float and near-critical paths. Thresholds should prompt investigation, not automatic deletion.

Progress Quality

Look for actual dates after the data date, out-of-sequence work, zero remaining duration on incomplete activities and unsupported changes to remaining duration.

Critical Path Credibility

Trace the path to key contractual milestones. Confirm that the path contains real work, procurement and turnover—not only constraints or artificial logic.

Management Usefulness

Make sure the file can produce clear lookaheads, milestone forecasts, responsibility views and a concise explanation of what needs attention.
